Don't take a chance when it comes to brake maintenance. If you're not sure they are 100%, call an expert. Rodneys Auto Centre in Casino can help you today.

Rodneys Auto Centre offers a detailed inspection for your vehicle as part of our full car service safety inspection. Routine inspections can identify and address brake issues before they become more serious. Our highly skilled technicians can help you determine when further care or repairs are needed.

Brake services on offer at Rodneys Auto Centre include:

Replacement Of Brake Pads - Replacing brake pads is a routine but crucial part of maintaining your vehicle’s braking system. Over time, brake pads wear down from regular use, reducing their ability to provide the necessary friction for safe and effective braking. During this service, the worn pads are removed and replaced with new ones, ensuring optimal stopping performance and preventing damage to other brake components.

Flush Brake Fluid And Replace - Flushing and replacing brake fluid is an essential maintenance task that keeps your braking system functioning properly. Brake fluid can absorb moisture over time, leading to reduced braking efficiency and potential system corrosion. This process involves removing the old, contaminated fluid and replacing it with fresh fluid to maintain proper hydraulic pressure and ensure reliable braking.

Brake Disc/Rotor And Drum Machining or Resurfacing - Machining or resurfacing brake discs, rotors, and drums is a cost-effective way to restore these components when they are uneven or slightly worn. The process removes a thin layer of material to create a smooth, even surface, ensuring proper contact with the brake pads or shoes. This service can help eliminate vibrations, improve braking performance, and extend the life of the components.

Replacement Brake Discs And Drums - Replacing brake discs and drums is necessary when these components are excessively worn, warped, or damaged beyond repair. This service ensures your braking system functions efficiently, providing a smooth and safe stopping experience. New discs and drums improve braking performance and reduce the risk of further damage to other components in the system.

Brake Caliper Replaced - Replacing brake calipers involves removing the old or faulty calipers and fitting new ones to ensure proper function of the braking system. Calipers are essential for applying pressure to the brake pads, allowing them to grip the rotor and slow the vehicle. Faulty calipers can lead to uneven braking or reduced stopping power, so timely replacement is vital for safety.

Brake Lines/Hose Replacement - Replacing brake lines or hoses is necessary when these components show signs of wear, damage, or leaks. Brake lines and hoses transport brake fluid under high pressure, enabling the braking system to function correctly. This service involves removing the old lines or hoses and installing new ones, ensuring safe and consistent braking performance.

Replacing Complete Brake System - Replacing the complete brake system is a comprehensive service typically required for older vehicles or those with significant braking issues. It involves replacing all major components, including pads, discs, calipers, lines, and fluid. This ensures the entire system operates at peak efficiency, providing maximum safety and restoring full braking capability to your vehicle.

If you have any indications that a vehicle's brake system could possibly be due for a service simply book online to have your brakes reviewed via our Casino car service centre today.

Rodneys Auto Centre can combine our fully qualified expertise and knowledge with our local understanding of the driving conditions in Casino to not only make sure your wheels are aligned correctly, but to confirm there are no underlying issues with the technologies behind the wheel that keep you safe on the roads.

What exactly is wheel alignment? Simply put, wheel alignments refer to the position of your vehicle's wheels. All cars are designed so that they provide exact steering and braking responses - but this doesn't happen if the wheel alignment angles aren't set correctly for that particular car. By having a wheel alignment checked and realigned if necessary at least once a year during a service, you'll notice some awesome benefits!

Braking and steering response is improved.

Driver fatigue will be reduced because you're experiencing an overall smoother ride.

Keeping your car's wheels in proper alignment is integral to its overall maintenance and upkeep. However, this important step too often gets ignored or side-lined until the first symptoms of poor wheel alignment appear—usually in the form of damaged tyres.

As soon as you notice these symptoms developing (e.g., uneven wear on your tyre edges), here are some things to keep an eye out for...

Uneven or rapid wear on the edges of your tyres

The steering feels mushy” or has become less responsive

If your car's steering wheel pulls to one side

The best time to get a wheel alignment is when the vehicles wheels are visibly out of alignment, but there are also other good times:

When you replace standard, steel rims with lightweight alloy rims

After any maintenance or repairs on steering or suspension systems (both front and rear)

When you perform any modification that alters the vehicle ride height or weight distribution

Expert tyre services from Rodneys Auto Centre ... A great Choice!

Tyres provide contact between your car and the road and play a significant role in ensuring your car's safety and ability to stop effectively.

At Rodneys Auto Centre, we pride ourselves on our reputation for honesty, experience, and local knowledge as independent business owners. With our range of tyres and specialised equipment, we are fully equipped to handle any new tyre fitting, wheel alignment and balancing needs you may have. Additionally, we stand behind all of our work with our Nationwide Warranty.

Ensuring your car receives regular servicing is essential to maintaining its optimal condition. As part of this, it's wise to have your tyres checked to monitor their condition and identify any possible issues. In addition, consulting with your trusted mechanic at Rodneys Auto Centre can reveal whether your car would benefit from a wheel alignment or wheel balancing, both of which can greatly enhance your driving experience while ensuring maximum safety for you and your passengers. These low-cost solutions are well worth considering to optimise your vehicle's performance.

The wear and tear on vehicle tyres can significantly impact your driving experience. Here are three examples of when it's time to replace them:

1. Tread Wear - A tyre’s tread is designed to grip the road and channel water away from the tyre surface to prevent hydroplaning. Over time, the tread will wear out, becoming less effective and reducing traction. When the tread is down to 1.6mm or less, it’s time to replace the tyres.

2. Punctures or Tears - Tyres can also be damaged by road hazards like potholes, sharp objects, or debris. If you find a puncture or tear in the sidewall or tread of your tyre, it’s essential to get it checked out as soon as possible. In some cases, it may be repairable, but if the damage is too extensive, you’ll need to replace the tyre.

3. Age - Even if your tyres look good and have plenty of tread left, they may still need to be replaced due to age. Tyres have a lifespan of six to ten years, depending on the type and usage. After this time, the rubber will begin to break down, becoming more brittle and prone to failure, even if they’ve been rarely used.

Tyre pressure is not just important to ensure you get the best fuel economy from your vehicle. Incorrect tyre pressure is a common cause of tyre damage as pressure and wear is directed at areas of the tyre not designed to take it. Perhaps most importantly the pressure of your tyres can have a direct impact on the driveability, and therefore the safety, of the vehicle.

We check your tyre pressures and ensure they are correct at every service, but should you have any concerns about your tyres current pressure or what that pressure should be, please give us a call to discuss.

Tyres will suffer from wear and tear at varying rates. The front and rear tyres for example will wear at different rates as front tyres generally carry more weight than rear ones, meaning faster heat build-up and therefore increased wear. The tyres on either side of your car will also tend to wear at different rates to those on the opposite side.

Having your tyres rotated regularly, every 8000 to 10,000 km for example, can help to ensure that all of your tyres wear at a similar rate and in the same places. Rodneys Auto Centre will be happy to undertake this task for you and inspect each tyre as they do it, letting you know of any issues that might present a problem or you should otherwise be aware of. We can undertake all types of tyre rotation for you including Cross rotation, straight rotation, 5 wheel rotation and four wheel drive rotation.

You should check your tyres yourself on a regular basis to ensure they are in good condition. Be on the lookout for bald or flat spots, tears and cuts in the surface of the tyre and any foreign objects likely to cause problems such as stones, nails and other road debris. You should also have a tyre professional give them a check on a regular basis as they have the knowledge and equipment to properly check the entire tyre and may spot issues you simply don't see.

Although checking your tyres is a task that you can undertake yourself, professionals at Rodneys Auto Centre are equipped to examine not only the external surface but also the internal condition of your tyres. They possess an in-depth understanding of the appropriate procedures for disassembly, repair and reassembly, as well as any manufacturer or legal requirements involved.

Will a regular wheel alignment or balance help look after tyres?

Regular wheel alignment helps to protect against premature or uneven tyre wear, increases the safety and handling of your vehicle and improves ride performance and fuel efficiency. Wheel balancing helps to minimise vibration through the wheels, thereby minimising premature or uneven tyre wear. Either wheel service (or both) will go a long way in helping to maximise the life of your tyres along with safety and handling benefits.

It's essential to keep an eye on your vehicle's tyres, checking the tread depth, air pressure, and visual condition regularly. Knowing when it's time to replace them will keep you safe on the road and help avoid any unexpected breakdowns or accidents.

Rodneys Auto Centre supply and fit a range of tyres suitable for most vehicle types in our Casino car service workshop
